What We Do

IndieMonday is kind of a like that friend that keeps you from focusing on your work with texts/emails/notes by carrier pigeon that say things like, “holy crap, you HAVE to check out this new band I found!” We’re kind of like that… only we won’t borrow your Springsteen T-shirt and “forget” to give it back.

IndieMonday is committed to delivering honest, reliable reviews of the kinds of bands and musicians that don’t always get the spotlight. We’re not going for the whole “I knew this band before anyone else and I’m only going to support them until they receive the popularity they deserve and then I’m going to whine about how they sold out and remind everyone around me that I knew this band before anyone else” thing. We hate that thing. We ARE going for fresh, original reviews of fresh, original music by fresh, original bands. Sometimes it’s poppy. Sometimes heavy. Sometimes it’s hip hop artists. Or acoustic singer-songwriters. Or experimental jazz quartets… bottom line, we dig deep into new music on a local level and feature what we like with a free song and a get-to-know-the-band review every Monday.

So, if you’re into free music from great local bands and in-depth reviews: welcome to IndieMonday, we think you’ll like it here. If you’re the type that prefers Nickelbackcreedbudlight, we may not be friends per se, but we’ll still give you the head-nod when we pass on the streets.
